My expectations of Shanghai had not been met the first time around but luckily this was not the case now. We anchored for one day before berthing the next morning and I was treated to a whole day of shipspotting from the bridge ...
I was very excited when we received the news that Maersk had moved from the old port of Busan to this brand new container handling complex. Newport is still under construction but already looks like a very promising location for shipspotters. I even got a glimpse of 4 brand new vessels directly from the shipyard during departure!
Despite foggy and cold conditions Yantian was a great experience as we got to see the third phase of the container terminal still under construction and the enormous amount of gantries in use here. Yantian's ambitions of becoming a major container hub are indeed justified after seeing this kind of infrastructure.
This time we arrived in Hong Kong during the day and I got to observe from the bridge. The Kowloon bridge was still under construction and ships were coming and going all the time. My best picture for the entire voyage was taken here, a magnificent view of the CAP BON departing the Kwai Chung container terminal.
