Newark

Our return visit to Newark was a feast for the eyes. Arriving in the late afternoon we were treated to some very nice ships and scenery highlighted of course by the beautiful EAGLE BIRMINGHAM glowing in the mild sunlight! The cold morning was quickly forgotten when the ZIM QINGDAO gracefully eased past us.

Savannah / Miami

The fine weather continued as we reached Miami once more. This time not less than 6 cruise ships were berthed at the cruise terminal and I of course took the afternoon off to capture them as they sailed towards the Caribbean. After two Carnivals and two NCLs, the FREEDOM OF THE SEAS left fully lit and fully laden with happy guests.

Panama

After discovering a minor crack in the hull, we had to stay in Balboa for 6 days to complete repairs. Nice weather, lots of ships at anchor and underway and a top shipspotting location made sure I wasn't going to get bored any time soon. Be sure to check out the LUDWIGSHAFEN EXPRESS and CAP BYRON here!

Los Angeles

The catamaran we had carried on board since Le Havre was unloaded here, lowered directly to the water along with the main mast. I went ashore with the captain and chief mate to explore the city and take on some much needed supplies for the upcoming Pasific Ocean crossing.

Oakland

Upon arriving in Oakland I had completed one full round trip voyage on board. I stayed on the bridge until 5 in the morning to capture the departing MAERSK BALTIMORE and ended up with some very nice shots. Departure was blessed by a great evening sun and some good vessels at berth.
