Back home

On the 23. October we reached the entrance to the English Channel. A familiar sight from my first practical term, I was now able to take a lot better pictures than before. We reached Bremerhaven one day later and changed crewmembers. Captain Nentwich took over and things were going to change dramatically - for the better!

Felixstowe

As I said, things started to change after Bremerhaven. I caught the SAFMARINE HIMALAYA at precisely the right moment and watched the CECILIE MÆRSK and XIN QING DAO leave the port from the best locations imaginable.

Rotterdam

Visiting the APM terminal in Rotterdam proved to be a most rewarding experience. I was asked to show the planner and his wife around the ship and got some great inside tips and information regarding Maersk Line and the Port of Rotterdam.

The English Channel

Another milestone in my education was achieved this day as I took over the navigation watch and steered the ship through the traffic and fishing vessels throughout the English Channel. The officer on the bridge had been reduced to making coffee.

Le Havre

We picked up an interesting part of cargo in Le Havre - a fully equipped catamaran bound for Los Angeles was loaded onto flatracks prepared on deck. A freshly painted MAERSK PATRAS and the CMA CGM ARISTOTE bathing in glorious sunlight capped off my tour of Europe.
