I boarded the Maersk Donegal in Oakland on the 01. September and we sailed across the Pacific Ocean to Shanghai. At this point I was still unaware of what was to come and got a few appetizers approaching Shanghai.

This port is the definition of efficiency. 69 gantries operating 24/7, some even have double spreaders to maximize container handling capacity. I saw some old friends from Hamburg here, most notably the VICTORIA BRIDGE which was berthed next to us.

We berthed in Hong Kong at 22:40 and I had to attend to loading watch until 06:00. The morning was worth it though as I got an impression of how busy this port really is. Still a bit hazy though ...

Now the fun began for real! Same story as Hong Kong only my morning photo session was greated by an amazingly fresh morning air and sunshine. The HANJIN BOSTON, MSC VITTORIA and MSC VALENCIA were the morning's main highlights and even the BERLIN EXPRESS showed off her fine curves.
