I spent my christmas vacation 2009 at home in Stockholm and besides getting great presents also shot some nice pictures. The first morning got off to a sunny start right away and I took the opportunity to try out a new viewpoint. The VICTORIA I looked splendid in the warm morning glow!

The next day brought two new additions to my collection with the 2009 built ferry BALTIC QUEEN and the STEN BERGEN unloading at Bergs Oljehamn in Nacka. The port gets a lot of tanker calls during the winter to meet the increased demand for oil.

A trip to my second favourite viewpoint on Lidingö at Saturnusringen on christmas day resulted in several excellent shots of the chemical tanker Olympus. The fully laden vessel trades for the Swedish company Sirius Rederi AB.

The crown jewel of the trip was the bulk carrier ROYAL FOREST. These ships hardly ever visit Stockholm and so I was very fortunate to capture this little gem from all the best locations. Hard to imagine that just a few years ago I would have been astonished by the size of this ship. Today it pales in comparison to what's out there.

Perfect timing as usual, this tanker arrived in the port just before I had to leave for the airport. All in all a very exciting and productive week to end a glorious year 2009.
