Hello and welcome to Nautik4ever. This website was created to combine my two major fields of interest - the maritime way of life and photography. Since I'm presently studying at the natuical school in Bremen/Germany and will soon serve as an officer on board of sea ships, it's also a place to write about my voyages at sea and show lots of pictures!
My original idea was to use pictures from fellow ship photographers as well to expand the archives. After completing my second practical term on board the Maersk Donegal I realized that I already had all the advantages needed for excellent ship photography. The results can be seen here - lots of open sea pictures as well as locations all over the world from Europe via America all the way to Asia!

In order to capture ships in all their glory, I use nothing but the best digital equipment like SLR-cameras, high-grade lenses and top-notch accessories:
I shoot in RAW mode which means that images are of the highest possible quality and can be modified in post-processing to suit individual needs.
The ship lists on this site include all of the ships currently in the archives. The pictures that have been provided by third parties feature their own respective copyright and can be ordered by contacting me, I'll then redirect you to that particular photographer.
Regarding my own pictures, the original sizes vary from 2560x1920 to 3456x2304 and are of much higher quality than the reduced size images you see on this website. If you would like to purchase pictures, please contact me for further details such as pricing, image size and delivery.
The site was originally created to serve as an online database of ships I've seen and want to share with others. Eventually I began to demand higher quality images and so I invested in digital equipment and began to build up an archive of maritime pictures.
Today this archive has grown to more than 51.000 pictures and includes the following categories:

I started out in Hamburg/Germany taking a lot of pictures from the harbour ferries and at the Bubendey pilot station. In July 2007 I visited Rotterdam for the first time and decided it was time to change venues after my studies.
During my second practical term on board the Maersk Donegal, I finally expanded my library with locations all over the world. Eventually, all the major ports will be added to the site and I will continue to provide shots the way only maritime personnel can!
